The Skhalta church
The Skhalta church a monument of georgian architecture , dating from the 13th century,stands in Khulo District.It is better preserved and maintained. it includes small church (mainly destroyed) from X-XI centuries, temple of St. mothergo from XIII centuries, wine celler and surrounding wall. In wineceller still is kept the old clay (KVEVRI) and winepress.
Fragments of its murals survive in the interior. there are subsidiary buildings around the church, including a wine cellar,dating from late Middle Ages. The interior of this beautiful church retained the fragments of original painting. During the services the praying is constantly accompanied by the sound of the river Skhalta.This is the river over which one of the oldest and unusual bridges is stretched.
