On the left bank of the river Rioni where there is a White Bridge there were number of buildings, surrounded by a fence and representing a fortifield residence of the Imeretian Kings. As they say one from two buildings inside the fence was known as “Golden Marquee”. The fence had a gate. The eclosed territory comprised wonderful church painted with frescos and large open “ dining room” with the length of 20 sazhen and 8 sazhen width.
Another large building the Royal Palace was standing on 12 pillars with arches. Only this building survived to nowadays and is known as “Golden Marquee”. The Kings had the feasts, balls and meetings here.
There is the plane tree in front of the palace of several centuries old. As they say there was a stone throne under it with four columns.
